Last year we had the pleasure of getting to know Laura and Matt. Two urban lovers, madly in love with their little up and coming riverside neighborhood (known as the East Village), who were total foodies and forward fashion thinkers! Having such awesome taste, they chose to have their wedding at Charbar, one of Calgary’s tastiest restaurants in a stunning heritage building. They wanted to have an urban industrial wedding that would be a reflection of their love for awesome food, industrial architecture, and minimalist decor.

The rooftop wedding was both intimate and personal, adorned with tropical accents through the art of floral design and hints of industrialism with the use of copper accents. We absolutely loved custom creating all the details for their wedding and would do it again in a heartbeat!

I remember nestling into my comfy couch by the fireplace with a cozy blanket draped over me, hot cup of tea in one hand and a pen and journal in the other. We had only rung in the New Year a few days ago. It was now 2016 and new adventures awaited us. Ah, yes. It was time to set new and exciting intentions for the business, indeed! Cam and I have worked very hard to keep our business afloat. Being an entrepreneur with a novelty business, not to mention in this economy, is a struggle on the best of days. Each year brings new challenges, new trends, new businesses to contend with, but when it’s all said and done, we wouldn’t trade it in for the world!

Where am I going with this? Okay…yes, intentions. Pen and paper. I vividly recall making a list of 2016 goals, and low and behold being featured in a print magazine was high on our list! Well friends, you know how they say if you put it out to the universe, the universe will deliver? (or something like that). Not only were we featured in BLUSH Magazine three times, but one of those times was on their cover! Mind blown! Goals crushed! You can only imagine our excitement when the editor of BLUSH contacted us to see if we’d be interested in collaborating on a wedding concept that was near and dear to their hearts. A Rocky Mountain vow renewal. Enter the ‘We Still Do’ editorial – one that celebrated 10 years of marriage, commitment and love. One that celebrated growing a family and loving your best friend more than you thought ever possible.

I don’t typically like to ramble on in my blogs, mostly because…well, is anyone really reading? But the points I’m trying to make here are:

  1. Set goals for yourself and your business, and don’t give up on them! No matter how lofty they may seem (Martha Stewart Weddings, we’re coming for you!)
  2. When opportunity knocks to be part of a crazy talented team of wedding creatives, you jump for joy and high five everyone.
  3. Always be grateful, no matter how big the struggle or how small the victory, because, you’re an entrepreneur, and that’s mighty honorable.

Without further ado, behold the beautiful photos from our BLUSH Magazine editorial, entitled ‘We Still Do’ ♥

I remember meeting Alex and Adam for the first time. They sat across from Cam and I, and told us that they had to plan a wedding, in less than 6 months – and would we be up for that. Yes! A thousand times yes! Challenge accepted! As they begun to tell us more about their vision…Charbar for their venue, a modern yet classy dinner party-esque feel, the colour of Adam’s suit…we knew instantly that we would love working with these two every minute of the way! A romantic modern wedding was in the throws.

Alex and Adam’s wedding couldn’t have been more perfect. The exposed brick and industrial accents at Charbar combined with the gorgeous floral arrangements and little accent touches brought everything together in one cohesive feast for the eyes.

Psst…We love (LOVE!) restaurant weddings so very much. We could sing it from a mountaintop. If you’re currently planning your wedding and want to keep it on the intimate side, we strongly urge you look into what gems exist in your city.

It doesn’t take much convincing to get us onboard with a creative wedding collaboration, especially when it involves handcrafting details, airs of romantic moodiness and hints of boho, let alone an opportunity to work with a bunch of awesome local wedding vendors. Say hello to our Moody Modern Autumn Calgary Elopement.

Our storytelling begins in Baker Park, nestled in the autumn trees. We wanted to illustrate an elopement that is both moody and soft in aesthetic, and accomplished this by pulling some modern and bohemian elements, such as pastels and dramatic blues, and soft textures and concrete. Scroll on down to see beautiful wedding inspiration, like a water colour wedding cake, autumnal floral bouquet and hoops, a Persian rug against a texture industrial backdrop, handmade calligraphy banner, and more.

You know when you meet a couple and they are so in sync and into each other, it makes you wonder if you ever knew what love really was to begin with? Enter Megan and JP. Equal parts lovebirds, equal parts goofballs, these two have a chemistry that is off the charts hilarious but also so swoon worthy.

Nestled in the mountains of Canmore, their vision was to have a wedding that was nothing short of aesthetically beautiful but that also wasn’t lacking in humour and good memory making times with loved ones. And that’s exactly what they got!

Their ceremony took place at Rundleview Parquette and boasted jaw dropping mountain views, and their vintage inspired reception followed at the Cornestone Theatre, which was adorned with accents of gold and lavender.

We’re so glad that these two found us and that we were able to play a part in their awesome day. But more so, we’re so glad these two found each other! This will be a wedding we’ll remember for a long time to come. Also, did we mention that Mike from Diane & Mike was the emcee!? Need we say more?
